If this is the challenge that you are facing then here is the fastest way to get rid of bats.

Know the Law

Before taking any action at all what you want to do is to check the local law to see what action you can actually take to remove the bats. Surprisingly, bats have found their way onto the threatened list which means that they are protected in many communities. Depending upon the actions that you take you may actually be breaking the law, and going to jail are paying a huge fine is not the solution to getting rid of your bat problem.

If you contact your local animal control or even speak with an attorney then you will be able to find out what the laws are. This is an important step.

Know Your Bat

The next thing that you want to look at is to determine what kind of bat may be in your home. Do a little research to find out what are the common bats that live in your neck of the woods.

The reason behind this is pretty simple. By knowing the kind of bat you may be trying to exclude from your home means that you will also know if it is likely if that bat had babies that may be present in your attic is well. By excluding the mother from the home you are not only risking that the babies will starve to death, but then they will be left in your home. The last thing you want is a group of dead bats decaying in your attic or other area of your home.

Know the Access Point

Next, spend a little time outside of your home at dusk and see where the bats are coming in and out of your house. What you will likely find is that there is a loose board, a hole, or a crack in the siding that is allowing the bats to gain entrance and exit from your home.

If you find that there is more than one entryway that they are using to get into your property, you want to close off all but one of those entry points. Use a sealant mixed with steel wool so that the bats cannot dig through to regain access through those points.

In the final opening that you allowed to remain, hook a one-way exclusion funnel over that opening. This will allow the bats to leave out of your house but not regain entry into it. This is ideal for you. At dusk, they will leave out of your home and head out to go hunt or forage. Once they have left, they will be unable to get back in.

However, you want to try to expedite this process. What that means is that you want to try to scare them out to ensure that they do leave when dusk arrives. To accomplish this, place some high beam lights in the attic area prior to dusk. When it starts to dark outside crank on those lights. This will startle the bats who will head for the exit and your problem will be resolved. It’s a quick solution for sure. NEED LOCAL HELP?
